Finding Evidence of Impact in Online & Blended Learning Environments

Charles Dziuban, Director, Research Initiative for Teaching Effectiveness, UCF   â€‹

Presenter | eHandouts

  • Combining the strength of face-to-face and technology-enhanced learning, blended learning (hybrid/online) is increasingly being seen as a strategic asset for higher education.

  • Blended learning (hybrid/online), allows both teacher and learner access to increased possibilities for understanding how we transmit and receive information, how we interact with others in educational settings, how we build knowledge, and how we assess what we have taught or learned.

  • This short presentation following a panel discussion will highlight hybrid/online research methods in course re/design and provide case studies in the Scholarship of Teaching and Learning (SoTL).

BIO: Charles Dziuban is Director of the Research Initiative for Teaching Effectiveness at the University of Central Florida (UCF) where has been a faculty member since 1970 teaching research design and statistics. Since 1996, he has directed the impact evaluation of UCF’s distributed learning initiative examining student and faculty outcomes as well as gauging the impact of online, blended and lecture capture courses on the university.
